Francis gets bail on escape charge

COURT TODAY BLOCKA man facing three charges, including escape, was granted $3,000 bail after he went before the District ‘A’ Magistrates Court Monday.

Omar Elvis Francis, of #21 York Terrace, Pinelands, St Michael, denied causing a disturbance along Gills Gap, Dayrells Road, Christ Church, escaping from Hastings Police Station without the use of force while being charged with an offence, and resisting a police constable in the execution of his duty on Sunday.

There was no objection to bail from Sergeant Neville Reid, although he asked the court to impose a reporting condition on the accused.

Acting Chief Magistrate Douglas Frederick later ordered that Francis, a gardener, to report to Central Police Station every Monday before 10 a.m.

Francis, whose attorneys were Desmond Sands and Mohia Ma’at, returns to court on December 1.
