St Lucy man dies at sea

Police are investigating the death of 65-year-old Collin Greaves of Hope Road, St Lucy, at Nans beach this morning.

Preliminary reports say that around 11:00 Greaves went spear fishing at the beach with a friend. One of the spear guns fell into the water and the deceased went under water in an attempt to retrieve it but he did not resurface.

His friend searched for him and sought assistance, and Greaves’ body was later seen floating approximately 100 meters from the cliff. The body was rescued from the sea by his friend and two other men from the area.

The Barbados Fire Service was summoned to assist in bringing the body from the bottom of the cliff.

Seem a bit sceptical to hear that someone who goes spear fishing looses his spear gun and goes to retrieve it and doesn’t come back . I would ask a few questions as to how deep was the water, and ,how did it happen to drop from his grasp. This all seem a bit “fishy” to someone that has spear fished .
I KNOW YOU DON’T DROWN BY FALLING INTO THE WATER, YOU DROWN BY STAYING IN IT. WHY COULDN’T BUDDY HAVE ACTED IN A MORE URGENT MATTER?
