In response to the Barbados TODAY lead story It’s a lie! carried on Page 3 in Thursday’s edition of the E-paper, the Barbados Workers Union (BWU) has banned this media house from covering its 75th Annual Delegates Conference scheduled for this weekend.

The union communicated its decision today in a terse email issued by Orlando Gabby Scott, Senior Assistant General Secretary.

It read: “I have been instructed by the Executive Council of the Barbados Workers’ Union that your news service will not be welcome to attend the Barbados Workers’ Union’s 75th Annual Delegates’ Conference which will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2016 and Saturday, September 3, 2016.”

editor's note

THE BWU had expressed strong objection to the story being published. Barbados TODAY is however satisfied that the BWU was able to fully vent its position and can therefore see no just cause for the union’s position.

Barbados TODAY stands by its mission to provide independent journalism that meets the highest standards of accuracy, fairness and impartiality. It will not cower to any pressure to hinder its right to do so.
