Bajans for Sandals talent show

Nine employees of Sandals Barbados are heading to Jamaica late next month to represent the hotel’s Barbados team at a company-organized talent show for employees from across the chain.

Previously known as Encore, the annual Sandals Festival of the Arts, scheduled to come off over a one week period in Ocho Rios, Jamaica, is described as the resort company’s ultimate talent event.

The nine-member Barbados team comprises models Samuel Skeete and Latoya Elcock, vocalists Devere Savoury and Crystal Holder, spoken word artiste Petria Barrow, dancer Tamara Cumberbatch, instrumentalist Shane Alleyne and dance duo Demar Robinson and Shayne Belgrave.

“Every year Sandals mounts a platform for our employees to showcase their talent,” said Joel Ryan, Sandals Group Manager of Entertainment. He added: “Festivals are solid representations of a people’s culture, tradition and heritage and this is what the Sandals Festival of the Arts, though competitive in nature, is all about.”

To gain a spot on the final nine-member team, a total of 20 Sandals Barbados team members competed in the local leg of the competition for the chance to represent the hotel. They competed in the areas of Male and Female Model, Male and Female Vocalist, Spoken Word, Solo Dance, Dance Duo and Instrumental performance.
