Jones attempted to sneak weed aboard the Jolly Roger

COURT TODAY BLOCKA planned cruise aboard a pleasure boat could turn into a two-month prison sentence if Dwayne Leroy Jones does not pay a court fine by September 23.

Jones yesterday pleaded guilty to possessing 3.2 grams of cannabis while boarding the Jolly Roger for a cruise thursday.

Security officers frisked the Lower Burney, St Michael man before he boarded the vessel.

The District ‘A’ Magistrates Court today heard that during the search security personnel discovered suspicious packages in his groin area and informed police officers who were nearby.

A more detailed search revealed two small Ziploc bags containing marijuana.

Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant fined Jones $1,200 for the offence, payable by September 23. Two months behind bars will be the alternative sentence if Jones does not pay the money by then.

    People got to want to pay away money or go to prison for doing this foolishness , knowing full well that security is in place for most things. But if they are ignorant of the fact of high security operations now, that is no excuse, it is illegal to use such here, don’t do it but if ya do then give me your wallet or purse or spend some time in prison, talk about poor thinking.
