Cellphone thief to be sentenced next week
Come Tuesday, Junior Nathaniel Beckles will be sentenced for stealing Jakari Dixon’s mobile phone on April 20 this year.
Beckles, of Combermere Street, St Michael, had previously denied committing the offence, however, when the case came up again today in the District ‘A’ Magistrates Court, he threw in the towel.
In explaining his reasons for doing so, the unemployed Beckles told the court that he was presently in a dorm “with ‘bout 40 men . . . and I is the oldest man in the dorm at 52 years old”.
“I does feel real bad ‘cause they does call me gran-daddy. Shout ‘gran-daddy dey’, dah is wuh they does be saying,” Beckles stressed.
The facts of the case were not available today but will be read next week, before Beckles is sentenced by Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant.
