Budget 2016 Update- Mottley raises concern about Sandals deal

Opposition Leader Mia Mottley urged the Government to create a level playing field in the tourism sector.

She raised concern about the concessions granted to Sandals , which she said was effectively “ a duty free zone”, charging that local hoteliers were at a disadvantage.

“ I have nothing wrong with Sandals… I believe it is a good thing they are here… but I believe the manner in which the Government has allowed them to come in has caused significant problems for our tourism sector in terms of equity.
