Badly behaved grandson remanded
A young man who damaged his grandmother’s property and hurt two police officers has been remanded to prison, pending sentencing.
Ewing Anderson Forde, 21, Tuesday pleaded guilty to causing a disturbance, assaulting two constables and resisting arrest on Monday. The resident of Old Navy Road, Christ Church admitted his crimes before Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant in the District ‘A’ Magistrates Court.
In explaining the incident, Station Sergeant Janice Ifill said Forde was behaving badly at his grandmother’s home, breaking items inside the house and the verandah, so the woman called police.
Lawmen arrived in time to see Forde still misbehaving in the verandah and damaging the property.
In the presence of police, the complainant asked Forde to leave her premises. But instead of complying, he ranted and raved and damaged the verandah further.
When the officers tried to arrest him, Forde cuffed one in the chest and kicked the other on his foot. The young man also held on to the verandah as he tried to resist arrest, but was eventually subdued and taken to Hastings Police Station.
