Ruling on Shemar Weekes’ death delayed

The Coroner’s ruling in the May 2015 hanging death of Shemar Weekes has been put on hold.

When Coroner Manila Renee resumed the case this morning in the Roebuck Street Court she revealed that she had not received an important piece of information from police that was critical to her judgment.

The Coroner is awaiting details on the time the police received the call from the scene and the information they received about the boy’s condition. She has requested the voice recording of the police operations control.

The decision will now be handed down next Monday.

Depends on the ruling. If found that he did it on his own, then nothing will probably happen further. If any doubt as to how it happened it will be up to the Prosecutor if to press charges against someone.

If it was a homicide, an investigation should be opened.

It looks like the police have no respect for the law, the Court and the administration of justice. It boggles my mind, that a decision in a case is deferred , because the police failed to present vital information to the Coroner. Is the police a law unto themselves?
