Jones in fourth place

Barbados’ golden girl Akela Jones is now in fourth place in the women’s Heptathlon after competing in her fifth event, Long Jump, in Rio this morning.

Jones reached 6.20 metres in the first attempt and 6.26 and 6.30 in the second and third attempts respectively.

She has amassed 4907 points to place fourth behind Belgium’s Nafissatou Thiam, Britain’s Jessica Ennis-Hill and Katarina Johnson-Thompson.

Jones will compete tonight in the final two events, the Javelin at 7:00 and the 800m middle distance at 9:50.

    Akela is doing so very well. I hope she can regain 3rd place and a bronze medal. Best of luck to her.
