TRINIDAD – 6,800 bullets, five guns seized in Piparo raid
PORT OF SPAIN –– Hidden in a house in Piparo, police found an estimated 6,800 rounds of assorted ammunition and five high-powered firearms on Saturday night.
Police described the haul as one of the largest in recent history.
The firearms and ammunition were recovered during a police raid in the Princes Town district. Police said rifles, shotguns and ammunition including .22mm, .25mm and 9mm were seized at the house. The ammunition was packed in boxes.
The exercise included officers of the Criminal Intelligence Division and the Criminal Gang Intelligence Unit. The officers were responding to information that three men were seen with firearms in the area.
Three men who were in the house when police arrived were detained.
