Ruling on Shemar Weekes’ death next Monday.

Coroner Manila Renee will next Monday hand down her ruling on the death of Shemar Weekes who reportedly took his own life at his Fryers Well, Checker Hall, St Lucy home on May 14, 2015.

As today’s hearing, Station Sergeant Anthony Cadogan delivered a statement from Julieann Weekes, the mother of 12-year-old Shemar.

The mother insisted that she did not kill her son and told the court that Shemar had previously threatened to commit suicide on more than one occasion.

She revealed that on the morning in question, Shemar had told his stepfather that he was planning to take his own life, but she was only told after the incident had occurred.

Weekes said she had a good relationship with Shemar but acknowledged that he was sometimes rude. She maintained he was not abused.

More than a dozen witnesses have testified at the inquest.
