It’s murder

COURT TODAY BLOCKA Christ Church man who was charged last month with serious bodily harm has had the charge upgraded.

Omar Leron Haynes, 29, of Green Hill Drive, Silver Hill had appeared before the Oistins Magistrate Court in connection with the shooting of Greg Trotman.

Trotman, also 29, formerly of Briar Hill in the same parish, was shot on July 11 while riding a motorcycle along Silver Hill, Christ Church. He died at the scene.

When Haynes returned to court today, the serious bodily harm charge was withdrawn and replaced with the upgraded charge of murder. The new charge was read and the change explained to him by Acting Magistrate Alliston Seale.

Haynes was not required to plead and continues on remand at HMP Dodds.

The tattoo artist is being represented by attorneys-at-law Andrew Pilgrim, QC, and Kamisha Benjamin.
