Wins for Ratcliffe as Squires sweeps awards

Veteran band leader Gwyneth Squires has once again swept the awards for this year’s Grand Kadooment celebrations.

Squires was adjudged the Best Festival Designer, while her ‘Spirit of our Nationhood’ won the 50th Anniversary of Independence Award, the BMA Brands of Barbados Award (Large Band), as well as the most Colourful Large Band, and Large Band of the Year.

The late Renee Ratcliffe’s Lucky Horseshoe Jump Promotions won first place in the Fantasy category, as well as second place for Best Band on the road and Large Band of the Year.

Betty West won first place in the Historical and Topical Categories.

Ooutraje won the awards for Best Band on the Road, Small Band of the Year, and first place in the Traditional category.

Didi Winston of the Gwyneth Squires Band has once again won the award for Flagperson of the Year.
