All roads lead to Bushy Park

All roads lead to Bushy Park for the highly anticipated Soca Royale competition this evening.

Dubbed ‘the biggest Sunday in Soca’ it is expected to be a day filled with lots of excitement and sweet soca music as 16 of Barbados’ top entertainers battle for the coveted Sweet Soca and Party Monarch crowns.

The day’s proceedings will get underway at 3 p.m with the new show Monarchs in Mas. The show will feature former road march kings and their music – seven-time road march king Grynner, Gabby and Ras Iley will perform their music live, while Khiomal, Supa Hype and Barry Chandler will perform the road march tunes from Edwin Yearwood, Mr Blood, Red Plastic Bag, Mikey and Lil Rick.

The actual competition will begin at 7 p.m. starting with the Sweet Soca competition followed by the Party Monarch competition.

Edwin Yearwood is the reigning Sweet Soca monarch while Peter Ram is the reigning Party Monarch.

Competitors in the Sweet Soca Competition will appear in this order – AC, Biggie Irie, Joaquin, Marvay, Mikey, Mistah Dale, Nikita and Peter Ram. Yannick Hooper is the reserve.

While in the Party Monarch competition Edwin will take to the stage first followed by  IWeb, Leadpipe and Saddis, Lil Rick, Mikey, Mistah Dale, MR BLOOD and TC. The reserve is King Bubba. (DB)
