Prince admits to stealing 50-pound bag of nuts

COURT TODAY BLOCKRalph Desmond Prince confessed to stealing a 50-pound bag of nuts over the weekend but the 63-year-old was not required to plead to a second charge of causing serious bodily harm to Cheryl Howell on May 2 this year.

While Prince stood before Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant Monday, the District ‘A’ Magistrates Court heard from Sergeant Robert Jones that an employee of Thorpe’s International Produce Incorporated went inside a storeroom on July 14, and left the door open after she exited.

Prince went inside the storeroom, took up the nuts and ran off toward Chapel Street. Another employee saw him as he did so and after informing police, later identified Prince at an identification parade.

During an interview, Prince told police he sold the nuts to the ‘Nut Man’ for $100. The nuts were recovered.

The repeat offender was fined $800 payable in one month, with the alternative of six months in jail.

He will return to court on August 19 on the indictable matter.
