TRINIDAD –– Under water

PORT OF SPAIN –– Thundershowers, gusty winds and street and flash flooding were reported across Trinidad on Friday as predicted by the Meteorological Service of Trinidad and Tobago.

Heavy showers were reported across the island, with intermittent flooding in south, central and east Trinidad.

Meteorologist Gary Benjamin  issued a forecast on behalf of the meteorological office which read: “Cloudy with periods of showers or rain in varying areas can be expected with a few of these showers becoming heavy and thundery at times. Tonight a few cloudy patches with the odd shower will interrupt mostly settled conditions. Gusty winds, street and flash flooding may occur in heavy showers and thundershowers”.

The Meteorological Service of Trinidad and Tobago is advising citizens to proceed with caution in the Piarco area and has since issued a Riverine Flood Alert. In its advisory the Met Office said that rainfall activity was anticipated to continue over the next 12 to 18 hours.
