Minibus driver caught off route
A minibus driver with several traffic offences under his belt added one more to his tally today.
Vivian Nurse of White Hall Main Road, St Michael was ordered to pay $300 for being off-route, while driving B184 last September 2.
The driver pleaded guilty when he went before Acting Magistrate Elwood Watts in the District ‘A’ Traffic Court.
“You like paying fines Vivian?” Watts asked, while viewing Nurse’s record, which shows payment of several fines, ranging from $300 to $800.
“If an $800 fine didn’t make you stop, what would make you stop? $1, 000?” Watts asked, pointing out that paying fines was meant to be a deterrent.
“Anytime I had an $800 fine to pay forthwith, I would not come back here on a similar offence,” the Acting Magistrate stressed.
Nurse explained though that he has not been reported on any traffic matters since September 2015.
He was given seven days in which to pay the fine, with the alternative of 24 days in prison.
