Commerce department warns of protein drinks recall
The Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs said it was investigating whether a number of products that have been recalled can be found on supermarket shelves here.
The department issued a statement today alerting consumers to the fact that that the manufacturers had recalled a selection of protein drinks comprising Protein Plus Shakes by Bolthouse Farms with ‘best by’ dates between June 20, 2016 and September 18, 2016; and four specific flavours of Nature Valley Protein Chewy Bars and Nature Valley Simple Nut Bars by General Mills.
“The Standards Administration Unit of the Department is currently working with importers and distributors to ascertain whether the affected items have been imported into Barbados,” the statement said.
“All persons who have travelled and bought any of these products from overseas for their personal use should check to confirm that they do not have any of the recalled products,” it added.
Just last month the department issued a similar alert regarding Mother’s, Keebler, Kellogg’s Special K Brownies, Murray and Famous Amos Snacks and Cookies by Kellogg Company; Mars Chocolate – Varieties of Combos by Mars Chocolate North America; Great Grains Protein Blend –Honey, Oats & Seeds Cereal by Post-Consumer Brands; Spicy Sweet Chili Doritos Tortilla Chips by Frito-Lay; and Nature Made Vitamins by Pharmavite LLC.
