St Giles, Vauxhall make netball final

It will be St Giles Primary against Vauxhall Primary in the final of the National Sports Council’s Pine Hill Dairy-sponsored Primary Schools Netball championship.  

Vauxhall secured their place yesterday with a 10-6 victory against Ignatius Byer Primary in the first semi-final while today in the other semi-final match at the Netball Stadium, St Giles were outstanding defeating West Terrace 26-17 to earn their berth. They led after three quarters, 8-4, 14-8, 23-12.

St Giles’ goal-attack Serena Edwards led the way once more with a top score of 19 goals from 25 attempts and goal-shooter Shemarla Wickham had seven from 13 attempts.

For West Terrace goal-shooter Chantel Pinder netted 11 goals from 14 attempts, while goal-attack Anise Alleyne had six goals from her 11 attempts.

The final is scheduled for Monday June 27 at the Netball Stadium where new champions will be crowned after last year’s queens Blackman and Gollop failed to get past the quarter-final round.
