One man nabbed in major drug operation

One man has been arrested and charged following a major drug operation that has also netted a total of 2,794 cannabis plants in four parishes over the past two days.

The operation, which took place in St Philip, Christ Church, St George and St Michael, was led by Drug Squad officers, who were supported by members of the Police Marine Unit and the Barbados Coast Guard.

On Thursday, 1,786 plants from seedlings to six feet in height were seized at Blades Hill, St Philip; and another 105 plants at St David’s, Christ Church.

A search warrant was also executed at the residence of 33-year-old Daniel Medford of Cox Road, Christ Church and three grammes of cannabis were discovered. Medford later pleaded guilty to possession of the illegal drug and was sentenced to six months probation. If breached, he will have to spend six months in jail.

Earlier today law enforcement officers seized 463 plants at the Belle, St Michael, and 440 plants at Hanson Hill, St George.

Keisha, I am not saying this is the case but here is how that is possible.

Although he was living outside of Barbados he could be paying someone to cultivate the plants on his land for him and profiting from same.
