Man throws stolen items into the sea

courtA 53-year-old St Michael man was today sentenced to two years behind bars after he pleaded guilty to stealing a number of items from a Christ Church supermarket.

Bertram Russel Lynch, of Bank Hall Cross Road, pleaded guilty to stealing one pouch of cream worth $22.90, one pouch of lotion valued at $25.65 and one pouch of cream worth $20.65.

Lynch, who has previous convictions, stole the items yesterday from Devantage Investment Inc., trading as Imart.

According to the facts read in the District “A” Magistrate’s Court No 2, Lynch entered the Imart branch at Lanterns Mall, Hastings Main Road, Christ Church.

A cashier observed the unemployed man as he made his way to the aisle where the items were located and placed them in his pants pockets.

Lynch then tried to make his escape across the Richard Haynes Boardwalk. When he realized he was being pursued by one of the mall’s security guards, he jumped into the sea.

Plain clothes officers in the area intervened and had to venture into the water to apprehend Lynch who refused to obey their orders to come out.

The items were thrown into the sea.

He is lucky he is in Barbados , where his sentence to many is considered harsh. If he was in an Arab Country not only would he loose a hand , but would get a possible 15 to 20 year sentence.
Some people are born thieves, and if the eyes see it ,they feel they must have it. He deserves what he got .Hopefully he got to drink a belly full of sea water to boot ,Fool.
