Cops probe Foreday threat

Police are investigating a grim message trending on social media threatening possible violence during the annual Foreday morning jam.

The Whatsapp conversation being circulated on Facebook claims there will be a “bloodbath” at the Crop Over event to avenge the recent killing of a young man.

The Royal Barbados Police Force issued a statement saying it “has taken the conversation seriously and an investigation has been launched”.

Lawmen have urged the public to provide any information they may have about anyone or a group who may want to disrupt any event to the nearest police station or Crime Stoppers Barbados at (1-800-8477/TIPS).

Police however assured that every action was being taken to ensure the safety of the public.

“We want to assure the public that all appropriate measures will be taken throughout the Crop Over season to provide a safe environment for all persons in association with other law enforcement agencies and private security,” the statement said.
