Kickstart helping in cancer fight
Kickstart Football Club is giving back to the community with their first fundraising 5K Fun Run and Walk on July 3. Under the theme Kick Start A Cure, part of the proceeds will go to The Little Pink Gift Foundation which gives financial assistance to individuals for the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer.
At the launch of the event this past Monday head coach David “Piggy” Porter said he was thrilled they could contribute to The Little Pink Gift.
“They help women who do not have the funds to battle this terrible disease. I am really looking forward to the Fun Run. Our slogan for this run is ‘Everyone’s A Winner’ which means that every person who crosses the finish line will receive a prize at the end and there will be exciting activities for the whole family,” he said.
Kickstart FC challenged their club members, who range from four to 17 years old, to come up with a design for their Fun Run tee-shirt. Finn Armstrong, from the under 11s age group, won with his goalkeeper and pink ribbon design.
The Kick Start A Cure Fun Run and Walk will start at 4p.m. at the CIBC First Caribbean Sports Ground, Kickstart’s home ground. T-shirts will go on sale from June 20 at Kickstart FC. For further information, visit their website www.kickstartfcbarbados.com or Facebook page.
