Mapp was murdered

It was murder.

That is the verdict of police following an autopsy on the body of Michael Mapp, 42, of Blades Hill, St Philip, which was discovered in a shallow grave in a cane field at Bayville in the same parish.

A release from the Royal Barbados Police Force this afternoon stated the autopsy revealed Mapp had died from gunshot wounds.

Family members who had gone in search of Mapp discovered the grave about 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday May 24, 2016 and immediately summoned police to the scene.

The victim had been reported missing on Monday, May 23, but police said he had not been seen since May 18.

Police did not confirm the identity until Wednesday, 25 May, although those present at the scene said at the time they were certain it was Mapp.
