When Barbados TODAY visited the scene, vendors and shoppers expressed total shock over the shooting, which was an unusual occurrence in the sleepy St Peter town.

One woman, who requested anonymity, expressed surprise that “people would have the heart to do something like this in broad daylight”, while shopper Sharon Inniss was angered by the incident.

“This is not something that happens in Speightstown. In fact, this is one of the first shooting incidents in Speightstown of late.

“It is just scary that you could leave your place, and you could be in the wrong place, at the wrong time, get shot, and don’t even know why,” Inniss said.
