Wesley Hall trounce Grazettes

Wesley Hall Primary solidified their position at the top of Zone 6 with a 6-0 thrashing of Grazettes Primary at the National Stadium grounds, as action in the BICO-sponsored National Sports Council’s Primary Schools Football Tournament continued today.

Speedy Kevion Newton led the attack with a brace of goals, while he had great help from Jaden Nurse, Edwin Burnett and Amir Howard with a goal each. Wesley Hall now have 21 points from seven games with one more to play in the preliminaries. They have secured their place in the round of 16.

At Speightstown, St Peter, Daniel Best led Gordon Greenidge’s front line with much gusto as they defeated Roland Edwards 5-0. The promising youngster registered a hat-trick and with a bit of fortune could have scored more. Tremaine Cox and Khimani Cox also found the back of the nets.

The victory was an important one for Gordon Greenidge as it moved them into second position in Zone 1 with 14 points from six games with one to play. Ignatius Byer lead the zone with 18 points from six games and have qualified for the round of 16. However, both Half Moon Fort and All Saints have 13 points from six games and their final games will determine who join Ignatius Byer in the knockout rounds.
