UPDATE-Husband and wife found dead

Police are investigating the unnatural deaths of a husband and wife, in what appears to be a murder-suicide.

The body of 27-year-old Kimberley Lovell of Alleyne’s Land, Bayville, St Michael was found by her mother Cicely Sargeant in her home with several fatal wounds just after 2:30 a.m. Sunday.

Investigating officers later found the body of her husband, 46-year-old Derek Lovell, of the same address, hanging from a rafter in a shed in the yard of their home,  police spokesman Acting Assistant Superintendent of Police David Welch confirmed.

This morning a crowd of onlookers gathered at the scene as the community awoke to the grim news.  Neighbours told Barbados TODAY, the couple, which has two young daughters, had been experiencing some marital troubles.  The young woman was employed as a nurse at the state-run Queen Elizabeth Hospital, while her husband worked as an orderly at the nearby Geriatric Hospital.

Tonia Prescod – Things in Bim are corrupt because the nation turned away from God. Plain and simple. The people didn’t want to be seen as simple and so chose to follow after the ways of other larger more “developed”, powerful, godless nations.

Because he killed does not mean that his friends/acquaintances cant miss him..i am sure none of them expected him to do such a cruel thing..so they will remember the good times and laughs they shared..missing him does not mean that they condone what he did…just my 2 cents

Rhea Nowell Rhea human behaviour or betrayal has nothing to do with gender. Hence, your vie w of men is unfortunate. It is the human mind, good morals, values that made us the human beings God intended. It has to do with sound character. women choose a lot of delinquent men , men who fail to support their children, but still have pleasure in bed would such men and get pregnant .

Not often but may I remind you that sometimes women contribute to their demised in such circumstances. Speaking in general terms, since I am not privy to the facts in this murder / suicide, men are driven to a point of committing such acts, under provocation. Some women set out to use men and end up getting the nasty end of the stick. I agree there is no justification for taking a life and as adults, learn to move on, learn from our errors.

Well, let me rephrase that in the interest of clarity, men in my generation and beyond were taught that crying is an expression of weakness in a man. And this very thinking has shaped the way in which the male interacts with the female. Hunte Omar, yep, I am quite sure men in your generation cry openly in front of women, I would put money on it.

And this very thinking has shaped the way in which the male interacts with the female. Hunte Omar, yep, I am quite sure men in your generation cry openly in front of women, I would put money on it and win. Now I am not quite sure if men are mostly the offenders in the relationship, but one thing is certain: men do most of the killing. And if I were a woman today I would be afraid to date a man; not knowing if I am going be living next week or the next two minutes. Hunte Omar, You spoke quite eloquently on the pathology of human behaviour, but there is something seriously distorted and twisted about the Male psyche when it is pushed to certain limits in a relationship brother. And let me end by saying this: to ask any person that is acting irrational in a relationship to act rational is irrational.

These are the last days and much of this sort of thing will happen, the bible cannot lie, even worse things will be happening all around us. We all need a close relationship with Jesus Christ, He is able to shield from such things. It is a mind that is focused on the things of the world and not upon the Master and saviour that will resort to such evil. We all need need Jesus Christ and should seek Him.

Why would he kill himself and leave her? If he strongly believed that she played an active role in bringing them to this point, he would kill her and then kill himself to avoid the consequences or, as he might think he loves her so much he can’t live without her. I am just saying because I do not know the facts. Some men have really warped or fractured thinking and he very well may have been the main offender.

I would say we should never wait to get to this stage. We always tend to stay in these situations until they fester. It is never easy but we should bite the bullet and take a big step toward moving away as much as we can from this end result.

Based on the article, they were having marital problems. I wonder if Mr. Lovell premeditated this because the article spoke of a number of fatal wounds. Since he took his own life we will not know what happened until we stand before the Lord. We must pray for the children and the families left to live with this tragedy. Let us also pray for the Nation and our families that we may learn how to handle situations that make us feel we have to resort to this type of action to solve them.

So sad! My heart goes out to the children; I only hope they were not a witness to this! My deepest sympathy for their loss.

Hi the question is this. What are we learning from all this? We are saying the man wrong the woman whatever, but what can We do to stop these things from further happening to the family? I mean the family in the whole? I think if we can help each other In the future we can stop this from happening. Help someone where you can. How you may ask. I am sure that someone knew that they where having problems, instead of say them always fighting or they always an argument talk to both parties not pull the women one side and go man he is a dog, tell her seek some good council. For both of them. If it’s the case that they need to walk away to save a life then we have have save a family. I think it would be be better to deal with the kids better it would be hard for the separated but at least they have life.

Could someone have killed them both and make it look like the man did it? Could she have killed him and then kill herself? Could he have done it and then thinking he cannot leave without her kill himself Whichever may the families of both the deceased receive all the support they will need at this time. In his wedding photo he seems far. i wonder if he was mentally ready for the pressures of life

Proverbs 6:34 & 35 “For jealousy is the rage of a man: therefore he will not spare in the day of vengence. He will not regard any ransom; neither will he rest content, though thou givest many gifts.”Those innocent children. May God console all the families involved and help them to raise the children in love. They need lots of it.

This is heartbreaking. That’s all I can say. Mothers, brothers, children etc are all left to pick up the pieces. This is so sad.

MAY GOD GRANT THEIR LOVED ONES THE MUCH NEEDED STRENGTH AND COURAGE TO GO ON NOW AND ALWAYS. MAY THEY REST IN BED. THIS IS NOT THE TIME TO BE JUDGING THEM OR EACH OTHER. THERE IS A SAYING ,” WHEN YOUR NEIGHBOUR”S HOUSE IS ON FIRE , WET YOURS.” MAY GOD RICHLY BLESS YOU ALL AND YOUR FAMILIES.

Well this is certainly a sad case,my condolences to both families,i have read all of the comment here, but the asinine comments by one tourist trap stands out, pure folly,i really do think that you should shut your clap trap, maybe you can even go by that name in a situation like this your comments should have been moderated. This is a matter that is of a very sensitive nature and one must be careful when one is commenting. I will therefore await any facts garnered by the investigators and if they are made public then an idea of what transpired would be obtained.

Very tragic loss some men can’t control their temper, he would have been more of a man to walk away but to kill the mother of his children is beyond belief, their children now have to live knowing what a terrible end became of their parents, hopefully they won’t be too scared by this but can’t see how it won’t affect them, my condolences to all involved, keep strong for the ones that’s left

I just can’t fathom what is happening in Barbados. Why is there so much senseless crimes occurring and ending in horrible deaths. Bajans awake from your moral slumber. This is making me sick to my stomach. This country that I left is breaking my heart time after time. And to read some of the heartless and nonsensical comments about this has left a bitter taste in my mouth. Here in London people can’t believe the stories that reach these shores concerning the state of affairs down there. Most people here think of Barbados as a model for peace loving individuals. They keep asking me What is going on?God knows I just don’t know how to answer them. It just brings tears to my eyes,
This young lady a couple years ago experienced a traumatic occurrence in her life. I felt her pain then. I was genuinely happy to see put her ordeal behind her and get on with reaching her goals. I used to admire her maturity and her pleasant manner. In a million years I could have never forseen this. She just didn’t deserve this no matter what. May she heal in perpetuity for the vagrancies of this life has mortally wounded her without just cause. Leon and Cicely accept my deepest heartfelt sympathy in this your time of pain and sorrow. My heart bleeds.
