Rihanna wins Billboard Award


Barbadian superstar Rihanna has copped the Billboard Chart Achievement Award at the 2016 Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas.

Her win was for her popular “Work”. It followed a flawless performance of “Love on the Brain” in which she sang her heart out to her fans who voted to ensure that she walked away with the coveted Billboard Chart Achievement Award.

She was also nominated for Top Female Artist, Top R&B Artist, and Top R&B Album. However, the biggest winners on Sunday night were The Weeknd with eight awards and Adele with five.

During tonight’s show Celine Dion broke down in tears after she was presented with the Billboard Icon Award by her son Rene-Charles.  Madonna was also joined by Steve Wonder for a special tribute to the life and work of Prince, who died in April.
