A day of draws
It was even-steven at the Blenheim, St Michael playing field today in Zone seven of the BICO-sponsored National Sports Council’s Primary Schools Football Competition.
In fact all the games played ended in draws, including the encounter between St Christopher Primary and St Bartholomew’s that finished at 1-1 this morning. Reuben Jacobs, the son of former national player Paul Lovell, gave St Christopher the lead when he connected with a ball that came from the left.
It wasn’t too long after that Raneco Browne found the equalizer in the opening half when he out-paced St Christopher’s defence and scored past the goalkeeper who left his line. The second half of the match proved uneventful, as neither side was able to take the lead.
St Gabriel’s and St Angela’s played to a 1-1 draw with Michael Lashley scoring for St Gabriel’s and Jalae Johnson for St Angela’s. The match-up featuring Milton Lynch Primary and Wills Primary proved uneventful without a single goal being scored. Meanwhile Arthur Smith Primary won by default over Vauxhall Primary.
Zone two matches were played at Trents, St James and Bagatelle, St Thomas today, and at Trents St Albans Primary got the better of St James Primary 1-0 with Ronico Harding scoring. West Terrace Primary also had a good day and edged Good Shepherd Primary 2-1 with Isaiah Babb accounting for both goals while Good Shepherd captain Tavian Eastmond netted the lone goal for his team. Also in zone two at Bagatelle Sharon Primary registered a 2-0 victory against St Silas Primary compliments of strikes from Zahran Regis and Jalanne Best.
In Zone 5 Ellerton Primary won 3-0 when they took on Cuthbert Moore Primary. At Gall Hill, Workman’s Primary defeated St Margaret’s Primary 2-0 and St George Primary won 4-1 over St Jude’s Primary. Mount Tabor were victorious 4-2 against Hill Top Primary.
The lone game in Zone one was at Speightstown, St Peter and Ignatius Byer came out on top 2-0 over Roland Edwards.
