Goals aplenty in Bico football
young footballers get opportunity to show off skills
Both teams played their hearts out but at the end of the game a solitary goal scored by Wills Primary’s Mical Jones separated his school from St Lawrence Primary, as action continued in the Bico-sponsored National Sports Council’s Primary Schools Football Tournament.
The two sides met this morning at the Briar Hall, Christ Church playing field, and Wills were very attacking from the opening whistle. They eventually found the breakthrough in the first half when the ball was played up the field just outside the box and Jones delivered one of the sweetest volleys one is likely to see at this level. Unfortunately for St Lawrence, they were unable to equalize thanks to good defending from Wills.
Four other games were played in that zone and Vauxhall Primary registered a 2-0 win over St Christopher compliments of Kishmar Ramsey who scored a penalty in the first half and returned in the second for another.
St Bartholomew’s Primary were also victorious and Jayden Archer was the man with the golden boots scoring both goals against St Angela’s.
Arthur Smith Primary trounced St Gabriel’s 4-1. Jaheem Wilson netted two goals and there was one apiece for Dashaun Bishop and Devon Bynoe. Ethan Wood recorded St Gabriel’s lone goal. St Winifred’s defeated Milton Lynch 3-2 in what was an intense encounter. At Speightstown in Zone one action, Half Moon Fort won 3-2 when they played Selah Primary. Tyler Jordon, Kris Graham and Netoril Graham scored one goal each for the victorious side while for Selah Quanan Carrington and Romario Greaves were responsible for the goals.
Zone two was contested at Trents, St James and Bagatelle, St Thomas. At Trents, St Albans had an easy 3-0 win over Good Shepherd thanks to Azari Williams, Joshua Clarke and Jabarry Cumberbatch. St James took on Welches Primary and won 2-1 with Mikael Corbin delivering both goals while Riquelme Knight had one for Welches.
At Bagatelle, defending champions St Stephen’s made light work of St Silas Primary winning 3-0 through two goals from Rashad Worrell and Kimani Blackman, one. West Terrace went down 1-0 to Sharon Primary with Ramano Harris scoring the winning goal.
Providence, Bay Primary and Ellerton were in winners’ row when Zone five was contested at Green’s and Gall Hill today. Playing at Green’s, Bay Primary thrashed St Jude’s 7-1 with two goals apiece from Michael Browne, Amir Gustave and Kimar Butler while Joaquin Adams scored one. Shamari Harewood was the lone scorer for St Jude’s.
