Teen escapes jail

COURT TODAY BLOCKA 19 year old man without a job was sentenced today by the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court to nine months behind bars for stealing, but he will not spend one day in jail.

That’s because Magistrate Douglas Frederick suspended Oranile Holder’s sentence for six months.

This means Holder, who was accused of stealing two chains valued at $1,820 belonging to Patt Blackman on June 25, 2015, will have to spend the time if he gets into trouble during that period.

He had pleaded guilty and a pre-sentencing report was ordered.

Meantime, Nicholas Samuel Borman, who had previously been remanded to HMPDodds until today, was fined $3,000 payable in six months, or nine months behind bars.

Borman, 33, of King Edward Road, Bank Hall, St Michael, had pleaded guilty to possession of cannabis, possession with intent to supply, trafficking and cultivation.

The general worker was charged with the offences that occured on April 29, 2016.
