Holder to carry BLP banner again

Attorney-at-law Arthur Holder will carry the Barbados Labour Party’s (BLP) banner in St Michael Central in the next general election.

During Sunday night’s nomination exercise, which attracted a large crowd at the George Lamming Primary School, Holder secured 271 votes to comfortably defeat challenger Hally Haynes, who only managed to muster 50 votes.

“You have my full support as we move forward as a team,” Haynes said in conceding defeat.

Holder is the returning BLP candidate, having lost by a narrow margin to Minister of Social Care Steve Blackett of the ruling Democratic Labour Party in the 2013 general elections.

Not good for the people of Barbados. Where are the trade unions representatives, farmers, local business owners and tradesmen. If you continue to vote in the establishment representatives you are continuing to get garbage in garbage out. Don’t expect a lawyer are going be looking out for the people. It is as simple as that, then you have no right to complain. All these people are hand picked by the party to continue their destruction of the economy.

Hense the reason why 2 new political were formed to offer the ppl different options . Thats the claim at least. You Lawrence of all ppl should know that majority of ppl enter the political arena more for a personal agenda than a care for who they represent. After elections you hardly ever see them for next 5 years. The closed office that you pass daily and see looking derelict until elections around the corner just sums it up. Ask any bajan if it’s possible to reach their representative and a great number will say no. Not every representative but a lot

The people need to go back to the grassroots movement and form their own party. The problem is bajans just accept whatever hand they are dealt.

We have to have independent organization. We have to have our own capacity to say, win a national election. That’s not the question. If 30 percent of the people say this is what we want and this is our platform, and no one gets our vote unless you address this, then everyone has to address you. They treat you like a grown-up. They treat you like people who are contending for power. And that’s what we’re trying to teach people, that you can contend for power, but you have to be organized on your own independent terms…….Caribani-Real.

    Lawrence Griffith!

    Bajans are happy people.

The refrain is that we are still better off than most. We might have declined but if we came from 100 to 75 others are at 40 ; 30 ; 20 so we still better than them.
