Homeless man pleads guilty to trespassing
The Psychiatric Hospital will be home to Kirt Oneal Washington for the next three weeks after he pleaded guilty to trespassing on the property of a Good Samaritan.
The 20-year-old of Lewis Gap Green Hill, St Michael was remanded to the mental institution by Magistrate Douglas Frederick after pleading guilty to trespassing on the premises of Peter Blackman and refusing to leave when asked to do so.
When Washington appeared in the District ‘A’ Magistrate Court today, Frederick remanded him until April 29.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Martin Rock told the court that after seeing Washington living on the streets, Blackman allowed him to sleep in his garage.
However, after catching him smoking marijuana in the garage, Blackman told him to “leave and don’t come back”.
Despite these orders, Washington still returned on two other occasions.
Police were subsequently called and he was arrested and charged.
