Chemical toilets at mental

The presence of two chemical toilets on a ward at the island’s lone psychiatric hospital in Black Rock, St Michael has caused a stink among some members of the staff there.

However, Acting Director of the hospital David Leacock said it was a temporary arrangement.

Leacock added that the situation would be back to normal at the end of the month when repairs to the ward are scheduled to be completed.

“We have a situation where we are relocating a ward and presently we have an area under renovation. We have provided chemical toilets for the staff to use in the short term. We discussed it with staff and they agreed to the temporary accommodation until the ward is completed at the end of the month. We have set aside a timetable for the completion of the repairs,” the hospital head said in a brief interview with Barbados TODAY. (NC)
