Youth meets bail after four months

A young man on remand at HMP Dodds for the past four months got a taste of freedom today.

Rico Kevin Prescod, 24, of 1st Avenue Spring Garden, St Michael was finally able to secure a second surety, which allowed him to walk out of the District ‘A’ Magistrates Court.

On a previous court appearance, he had been granted $10, 000 bail by Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant with two sureties, after pleading not guilty to damaging one motor car belonging to his mother Barbara Prescod, as well as assaulting her on November 7, 2015.

However, he had only been able to find one surety.

Having secured a second surety this afternoon, the handcuffs and foot shackles were taken off and a smiling Prescod exited the courtroom.

As part of his bail conditions, Cuffy-Sargeant ordered Prescod to report to the Black Rock Police Station every Monday and Thursday before 9 a.m., as well as to surrender his passport to the court.

He will return to court on April 26.
