Warrican leads Pride to victory

Jomel Warrican took six Leeward Islands wickets to lead Barbados to victory inside three days

West Indies left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican grabbed 6 for 102 as Barbados Pride defeated the Leeward Islands Hurricanes by an innings and 93 runs on the third day of their WICB Professional Cricket League match at Warner Park Stadium, St Kitts/Nevis today.

Facing a first innings deficit of 317, the Hurricanes resumed today on 18 for 1 and were dismissed just before tea for 224 in 75.4 overs. Orlando Peters top-scored with 60 in the Hurricanes’ second innings. The hosts were bowled out in their first innings for 119 to which the Pride responded with 436.

Barbados started the final round of the tournament on 123 points, seven behind the Guyana Jaguars. They now have to wait and hope that the Jamaica Scorpions can hold the Jaguars to a draw at the Guyana National Stadium if they are to prevent the Guyana team from repeating as champions.
