Car thief detained

COURT TODAY BLOCKVeril Glenroy Harewood will have to wait another two weeks to find out his punishment for committing a robbery just over three years ago.

Justice Margaret Reifer remanded him to HMP Dodds until March 18 when he appeared in Court No. 2 of the Supreme Court this afternoon for sentencing.

Harewood was earlier found guilty of robbing Daniel Ambrahamovitch of one motorcar valued $58,000 belonging to Enroute Car Rentals on December 6, 2012.

During today’s hearing, a prison officer revealed that Harewood of Sargeants Street, St John had spent 734 days on remand for the offence.

However, Justice Reifer was unable to hand down a sentence as she said she had not yet received the transcripts.

She then remanded him for a further 16 days, during which time she said she expected to locate the transcripts and be prepared to give Harewood his sentence.
