Unemployed man denies theft

COURT TODAY BLOCKAn unemployed man, with no permanent address, denied two theft charges which were brought against him in a Bridgetown court today.

Julian Ricardo Haynes, 35, pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant in the District ‘A’ Magistrates Court No. 2 to stealing a $20 hat belonging
to Roger Small on Thursday and one $72 pack of ice-cream cones belonging to Rechardo Thomas last December 15.

The police prosecutor, Sergeant Neville Reid, opposed bail for Haynes, stating that he had no fixed place of abode, was likely to reoffend, had antecedents and was well known to the
law courts.

The accused, on the other hand, said he was released from the Psychiatric Hospital only on Monday and that he had an addiction.

The magistrate remanded Haynes to the Psychiatric Hospital for observation. When he returns to the District ‘A’ Magistrates Court No. 2 on March 18, he should be accompanied by a report from the hospital.
