BT marks its sixth birthday
Yesterday we at Barbados TODAY celebrated our sixth birthday as a company.
Though still young, we, as is customary, celebrated in a big way and took to the streets with our fans and avid readers.
Our first stop was at the Barbados Community College (BCC), the place where it all began for most of the journalists currently employed at Barbados TODAY. We surprised the students in first and second year mass communication. Three of their classmates –– Katrina King, Richelle Taylor and Anmar Goodridge-Boyce –– received special gifts for their outstanding work while interning with Barbados TODAY over the summer and beyond.
Chief Executive Officer and Editor-In-Chief Kaymar Jordan reminded the mass communication students of the importance of the media in the society and urged them to take their chosen profession seriously.
Some first year nursing students and all those around by extension were then treated to some fruit as the BT team mingled and reminisced with students.
The students over at George Lamming Primary were equally as surprised when the BT team showed up to celebrate with them, enjoying some tasty blue and yellow cupcakes. But we were in for a special treat ourselves when the students sang us the birthday song in two different versions.
Cheers to Team BT, cheers to many more years of producing “the news you can trust”.
And a special thank you to Cost-U-Less, Promotech, FLOW, Chefette, Pure Ocean Restaurant and City of Bridgetown Cooperative Credit Union for contributing yesterday’s prizes.
