Salvadoran footballer killed

Former El Salvador national team footballer Alfredo Pacheco has been shot dead.

Officials said a man approached Pacheco, 33, yesterday and fired several shots at a petrol station in the city of Santa Ana, 76 kilometres west of the capital San Salvador.

Police say two other people were injured in the attack, the motive of which is being investigated.

The defender, who was El Salvador’s most-capped player, was banned for life in 2013 for match-fixing.

Pacheco played for several top clubs in El Salvador and also spent a season on loan at the New York Red Bulls, for whom he made 14 appearances in 2009.

Pacheco and another 13 members of the national team were found guilty of receiving bribes to lose several matches between 2010-2013.

He played 86 times for his country.

For years, El Salvador –– a small nation in Central America –– has had one of the highest murder rates in the world averaging 17 per day.

Earlier this month, Honduran international footballer Arnold Peralta, 26, was shot dead while on holiday in his hometown.

@Barbados Today!!!!!! 2016 will shortly be upon us, and i have ONE Simp;e request of you and your Staff Reporters. PLEASE!!!!! Learn the ENGLISH LANGUAGE in it’s enterity, Nouns. Pronouns, Conjuctions, Verbs, Adjectives, The Tenses, etc etc.
Now take for instance this small section from the above Report, it MIGHT have been COPIED from another News source, but even so then it should have been Checked for GRAMMAR before being reposted by you.

“”Officials said a man approached Pacheco, 33, yesterday and fired several shots at a petrol station in the city of Santa Ana, 76 kilometres west of the capital San Salvador.””

According to this Sentence, who were the shots fired at, Pacheco or the Petrol Station ?? i don’t know if this can be classified as a Malapropism, but if they are any English Graduates reading these Comments please feel free to comment on this.

In 2016 since so many people Worldwide read our Local Newspapers (Yes they do) my first wish is that News reporters in Barbados get a Good Grasp of the Language they work in, and that Language is “ENGLISH” NOT Bajan, or Eubonics, or Patois, etc. ENGLISH

If they are any who would think of criticizing me on this comment, before you Ass ume anything, PLEASE!!! Speak to an English Professor(UWI) or a High School Teacher etc, and then make your comment.
