COURT TODAY BLOCKA teenager was given 80 hours of community service after stealing a pair of earrings from Woolworth yesterday.

When he appeared before Magistrate Douglas Frederick this morning in the District ‘A’ Magistrates Court, Raheem Ramon Browne pleaded guilty to stealing the items valued at $5.95.

The 19-year-old resident of Arch Hall, St Thomas told the court he forgot the earrings in his pocket.

However, in giving evidence, police prosecutor Sargeant Martin Rock revealed that Browne walked into the store took the earrings from off the shelf and placed them in his pocket.

The security officer observed him leaving the store without paying for the items and followed him.

He was eventually apprehended in Cave Shepherd.

Browne was searched, the property was found and police called in.

He was subsequently arrested and charged.

Browne will return to court on February 21, 2016.
