Man slaps sister in the face

COURT TODAY BLOCKIt was all about respect for Noel Alexander Austin.

Hence, when his sister Chery Jordan saw him at the Cheapside market over the weekend and did not speak, he slapped her in the face.

Arising from the incident, the 40-year-old, of no fixed place of abode, appeared in the District ‘A’ Magistrates Court yesterday on an assault charge.

Austin pleaded guilty and was remanded to the Psychiatric Hospital by Magistrate Douglas Frederick for a psychiatric assessment after he gave the court a rambling explanation of his action.

Prosecuting the case, Station Sergeant Neville Watson said Austin and Jordan are siblings but Austin is not on speaking terms with his family.

Both of them were at Cheapside Market, The City on December 19 when he tried to get his sister’s attention, but she ignored him. Austin then went over to her and informed her that whenever she sees him, she has to speak.

Jordan ignored him again but this time Austin slapped her in the face, reminded her that he is her brother and that she “must speak” to him when she sees him.

Austin returns to court on January 11.

I hope his sister husband or partner, educate him how to have respect and not to lay his hand upon a woman.
