GRENADA – Police searching for abducted Canadian

ST GEORGE’S –– Police in Grenada have launched a hunt for a Canadian woman who was apparently abducted on Sunday. The woman’s husband has also offered an EC$100,000 (BDS$74,000) reward for information on her whereabouts.

Lawmen say it appears that 36-year-old Linnea Moore-Veinotte –– who was working at St George’s University after finishing a postdoctoral fellowship in microbiology at Dalhousie University –– and her dog Nico were struck by a vehicle as they went on a morning run just after 8 a.m.

The dog was left on the side of the road but Veinotte was nowhere to be found.

According to police, there would be damage to the front, right side of the vehicle that struck the two and “the driver is thought to have also incurred a flat tyre in the incident and would have had to change it somewhere nearby”.

A Find Linnea Veinotte Facebook page has been set up, and in a message posted there, the woman’s husband Matt offered the reward for the safe return of his wife and mother of two.

Veinotte’s father Reverend Doug Moore told CBC News in Canada that his daughter, her husband Matt and their two sons had recently returned to Grenada. Reverend Moore and his wife Karen have flown to Grenada.
