QC is all set with $1m gym

Queen’s College is now well on track to break ground on a new state-of-the-art sporting facility.

Five years after the Give Back QC Fund-raising Committee, under the chairmanship of former student and Nation publisher Vivian-Anne Gittens, was set up to raise $1.2 million to complete the complex, it has reached its goal.

At a ceremony on Tuesday, proud committee members updated the thermometer, which has been measuring their efforts, to mark their achievement.

The facility will have multipurpose training classrooms, outfitted with advanced technology as well as specialized equipment, all designed to enhance players’ power, speed, strength and confidence to improve performance. There will also be a gym and training facilities to help students and athletes from four nearby primary schools, which have been adopted by Queen’s College over  the past two years.
