Lauriston goes on trial for shooting at cops

COURT TODAY BLOCKThe trial of a man accused of shooting at three policemen began in the No. 5 Supreme Court today before Justice Jacqueline Cornelius.

Steve Lauriston of Crick Hill, St James is facing three counts of endangering life, and one each for possession of a firearm and ammunition on July 14, 2013. Chandler allegedly shot at police officers Lever Nash, Bernard Brathwaite and Kenroy Ashton on that date.

The trial is being heard by a jury of five males and four females, before whom Principal Crown Counsel Elwood Watts has already presented his opening address.

One witness, Nash, has testified so far in the trial which continues on Tuesday.

Chandler will continue on bail until then.

Queen’s Counsel N. Keith Simmons is representing the accused man.

    Daz y I no police in Bim get soft. In d days of rap brown, fancy basket, dirty Harry, tracksuit top, invader…he wud never have gotten charge, far less gone court. Miss those fearless cops

    Charged with endangering life!!! the least he should be up before the beak is three accounts of attempted murder. He and the rest of those plastic clowns in Dodds should all be put on a chartered plane, flown out to sea open the hatch and sling the lot of them out.

    looking forward to the end result . This guy got “guts&balls” . He got to have some “funds” or is someone with “clout”. He have the services of one of the ‘heavy-rollers” for his Lawyer.

    Did he really shoot at three Police and didn’t hit one? If that be the case ,i woulda charge de Police instead of the accused, cause he must have been using a rubber band, or a gutter perk.
    I know that in times gone by he would da only got off one shot, but most a dese young Police in Barbados now would run so hard dat not even Bolt would see weh da gone.Maybe de guy fire a warning shot in de air and dem tek off .
