Campbell leads Scorpions to victory

 KINGSTON –  John Campbell’s sensational performance with the ball, was followed up with solid batting, as his knock of 83 led Jamaica Scorpions to a six-wicket win over Trinidad and Tobago Red Force in the WICB Professional Cricket League (PCL) at Sabina Park yesterday.

Beginning the final day with a second innings lead of 67 runs, with the score at 87 for 4, the twin-island republic-based team pushed their total to 175 all out, leaving the Scorpions needing 156 to win.

Overnight batsman Yannic Cariah added 11 to his overnight score before being dismissed by Nikita Miller, while his partner Yannick Ottley only managed 29 before falling victim to Campbell.  Steven Katwaroo added 29.

Campbell, who took four wickets on Sunday, continued his devastation with the ball, taking a further three to end the innings with seven for 73.

In pursuit of the target, opener Campbell stood firm as captain Paul Palmer (17), Kirk Edwards (20), Andrew McCarthy (17) and Tamar Lamer (13) all departed before the target could be reached. Chadwick Walton was still at the crease having made one run.

Campbell received the man of the match award.
