What will be the repercussions of this saga? Can see this heading for the law courts and a long drawn out process.

What would be the point of taking this to the law courts for a long -drawn out battle, with the only winners being the lawyers. Clearly the differences are irreconcilable. I would say that is enough grounds for an uncontested divorce.

She is still the elected MP for the constituency. So she has independent status now.

No government. No opposition. No morals. We’ve come a long way but on a downward trajectory. Is this how we will celebrating 50 years as a nation?

    • Bernard Codrington. November 24, 2015 at 9:01 am

It seems as if we will have to celebrate and recalibrate with or without any political leadership. But the country belongs to all of us Barbadians. We do not rely on political leadership to define who we are and what we stand for.

  13. Samuel Morrison November 22, 2015 at 10:15 pm

Maria Agard has been sacrificed to prove that MIA is a decisive leader. Maria was set up from the word go. The charges brought against her were all nebulous. There was no way she could defend herself against any of the nine charges, since they make no sense. She was destined to be expelled. This is really not a demonstration of leadership, but a demonstration of weakness. It says that the BLP is not a place where differing ideas can be placed on the table. MIA and her acolytes and sycophants have literally destroyed a young woman who does not deserve it. People have seen an example of the incipient dictatorship which will become more apparent over the next few months. MIA is a dictator. She will prey on the weakened and vulnerable. Nobody can sensibly say what Maria has truly done. This is a sad day for democracy.

    • Donild Trimp November 23, 2015 at 2:55 pm

Samuel Morrison, you are just another hot air blower.

This doctor woman falls into the category of an “EDUCATED FOOL”.

Anytime you pit yourself against the establishment for an extended period of time, you are going to lose.

All I can say is I’ve had great experiences with Dr. Agard. Therefore for me nothing changes. I’m not taken in by this peacock display by the bees. Currently I might be a BLP fan (by default), because I am absolutely sick-sick-sick of the DLP (and Barbados has a two-party system) but the actions of the bees is driving me away from that party now too if I have to choose. I’m just saying. I’m not sure what Ms. Agard has planned, but I wonder if she might consider forming a new party? (don’t have to answer.) Just something to consider long term. I would just want to know your manifesto Miss Lady. : -) Al I saying there can be a need for a new party. Many young people at UWI would love a chance to be heard in government, and if you can be their voice Ms. Agard so-much the better. These two parties in many cases are full of lots of ole timers who wont give any young people a chance so that is def. a segment of the population that you could empower through your position in Parliament. This can become such a powerful thing for you that has happen. BLP might have just punch themselves in de eye.

What people doesn’t understand is a political party is the same as a mafia or street gang organization. If you don’t tow the line with party policy the gang members turn on you viciously. Political parties doesn’t care about the people but only what a few selected top members think. Mia is nothing like her brother Warren, he has a whole different personality. Me and Warren was very close friends so I know what I am talking about…

    • Lawrence Griffith
Lawrence Griffith November 23, 2015 at 3:52 am

You are a gang member of the BLP so you have a narrative. I don’t expect you to be impartial. I don’t support any political party so I can call it as it is. All you people operate under the same false pretenses as the people servants. At the same time plundering the country of it resources..

  17. dave November 22, 2015 at 11:42 pm

Maria Agard is Joker. She should have fixed that problem ever since . Not speaking to people; not agreeing with your executive ? Should have been kicked out long time ago. Lets move on. Who Maria Agard think she is ? Chelsea Clinton? (with apologies to Chris Tucker)

  18. janette reifer November 22, 2015 at 11:50 pm

Right speed. She should have gone ever since. She came to mash up the Party. The BLP was before her. She is only one person, and she think she is more gully bore than anybody else. Let her go along about her business. She is an educated joker. Rules are made to adhere to. If any destroying, Ms. Agard done it to herself, because she is too stiff neck and ignorance is a curse. To say that Mia is a dictator, then you would have to refer to all the leaders.. When people don’t like a person, they find all ills to speak of the person. Ms. Agard has only herself to blame. She had all the time to make things right, but she is arrogant and an out law. She thinks because she is a woman, that she would get all the support. She has choices. She can join the DLP, I believe they would want her to parade, or she can ran as an independent.

It is amazing how politics does turn some people into idiots. You see the ease with which they curse and castigate people for the sake of it.

Hell, there is life after nasty politics.

  21. miche November 23, 2015 at 1:42 am

janette reifer,,It is persons like you that make the fifth amendment a sorry thing,,,persons like you, should be banned from all sorts of communication

      why not you, miche

  22. Big Brown November 23, 2015 at 1:45 am

Mia you will never please all the people all of the time. First they say you were weak and indecisive because you took to long to try to resolve the problems in Christ Church West.

Now they say you are a dictator because you invoke the rules of the Party.

The thing is that the National Council Made the decision not Mia Mottley alone. Miss Mottley called for healing by both the Branch and Dr. Agard, but it takes two to tango.

Don’t be surprised if this walk out is a ruse to run for the DLP.

  23. BaJan boy November 23, 2015 at 2:11 am

We can’t even say ban Meche for anything other than attacking the messenger. To the Samuel Morrison you statement is so down right illiterate it is not worth replying to,other than to ask if you had children whether or not u would tolerate them disrespecti authority the way this clown did so defiantly and disresctful. You DLP jokers are trying to use the press to pull Mia into this but we saw where for a long Mia was trying to get her to work with her branch and she so arrogantly refused.. The girl is too full of Maria Agard and they is not a nice smelling thing…

  27. Estherline November 23, 2015 at 7:59 am

In every democracy , there must be a bit of dictatorship for harmony to survive. Good decision taken by the National Council of the B.L.P. The D.L.P “donkies” can never appreciate this form of democracy, since this word does not exist in their vocabulary. The eager eleven were hoping to oust there “dead” leader but self aggrandisement has their hands tied and as we see daily they are operating on a grab and stash mentality. You may add Maria’s attorney to that grab and stash group as well. However else would he chose to represent Mr. Green Verbs of Clico, with no thought for the poor persons who were fraudulently deprived of their hard earned monies. Mr. Q.C. you have no authority to talk about right and wrong, you only interest is money. Not one of you care about the democratic process, your only aim is to see how wealthy you can become, before leaving parliament or before the good Lord calls you home, hence the need to toe the line and say little or nothing. The B.L.P has always been a party which encourages different views and allow for discussion wherever possible. Apparently Maria did not realised that she was digging her own political grave. She has made herself into a
political duppy like ” Lady” Eastmond and one of the lilipucian piglets of the north . R.I.P

Too disrespectful and personal. Can you see a doctor refusing to attend to a patient because of his political inclination?

  29. BOBO THE SAME CLOWN November 23, 2015 at 8:45 am

Mia Mottley reminds me some an old dictator, that can’t accept any idea unless its her own. Where has Democracy gone? If someone is unable to accept creditable criticism without demonstrating a vicious response ,then they are not fit to be a party leader in Barbados, or any place else ,unless you are Putin. She sure is no Putin. She is not only a vicious indivisual ,but a dangers bully who has demonstrated many times that shame is a lost word in her vocabulary .She would always eat and wiped her mouth clean ;Often acting like the Town Bully.
Dr. Aggard will have an outstanding career no matter what Mia does.” You go girl” Mia will eventually push the BLP further behind the eighth ball . The SOS to save the party can’t be far from now, ’cause the ship is taking water ,and beginning to list.

  30. BOBO THE SAME CLOWN November 23, 2015 at 8:50 am

This is all due to the fact that Mia feels threatened .It as simple as that . Eventually those that are elated by the expulsion will one day soon see the real picture. That is the real Mia Mottley.

  31. jrsmith November 23, 2015 at 12:38 pm

In Barbados, arrogance , attitude , ghettoism, stupidity, people who are treating being , in upper management in Barbados as if they cant even control a rum shop.
Bajans are really educating our young people, and we wonder, why our young people is behaving the way they do.

  33. rick hart November 23, 2015 at 7:40 pm

I am merely an only observer here in London. I am not fully up-to-date with the complete overview and particulars with regards to the background on this particular controversy. I supported Democratic Labour Party under the great leader of Mr Errol Barrow . However since his death I have become disillusioned with the party I no longer support either party. However I support Barbados and Barbadians.

Looking at this situation as objectively as I can, there is one thing that comes to mind. Previously there was a falling out between mrs Motley and Mr mr Arthur. Noticeably there is another MP unceremoniously leaving the party, rightly or wrongly .

This has exposed clear divisions within the party . These divisions historically does not resolved themselves in a short period of time running up the next general election this is not a recipe for success be warned Barbados Labour Party supporters this a guard carries the sympathy of her constituents and wider public couple with Mr R offers kicking the party on the sidelines Will not help I offer this as merely food for thought
