Dr Agard walks out

Unfair and downright lawlessness!

That’s how attorney-at-law Hal Gollop, QC, tonight described efforts by the Barbados Labour Party’s National Council to discipline his client Dr Maria Agard.

Dr Agard, the embattled MP for Christ Church West, went into the 5 p.m. meeting with her legal team, which also included attorney Lynette Eastmond.

An hour and 45 minutes into the meeting, they staged a walk out of the talks.

Calling the tribunal “unfair”, Gollop contended that the same people who brought the charges against Dr Agard were also sitting on the disciplinary panel.

Opposition Leader Mia Mottley and other members of the National Council, including General Secretary Dr Jerome Walcott, are yet to emerge from party headquarters.

Not a good look at all. The message this is sending is disarray and lack of management skills. Crisis management is key to any government and they are preparing to be elected? This should have been handled internally and swiftly. We got nuff problems regarding the people’s business. Let’s get to it. I said before, if you all think the government is going to be handed to you all, Wunna got another thing coming. Get Wunna act together. Please.

If this is true “that the same people who brought the charges against Dr Agard were also sitting on the disciplinary panel”, she had every right to walkout not even a high school student council will do this.

Well well Dr. Agard npt doing so well at all. Time to let her go. She refuses to step aside, she refuses to work with her executive , she refuses to be displined. Who de hell Maria Agard think she is ? Chelsea Clinton ? (with apologies to Chris Tucker)

Ok where did this start ,not now but from way back at a nomination day ,the day she was chosen.I could see their faces now the ones that backed Bishop.Lol they paved his way with office and all.Now I look a little closer on another nomination day the day an executive was to be not elected but returned to office.I saw members new and old ,it was like nomination back then.I could feel hatred and an eagerness to get back at someone . We sat for more than an hour waiting for the executive to arrive, every now and then excused would be made for the lateness.Only thing I was not sure who they were awaiting because the only late person was a young guy holding an electronic gadget and a shrewd face young lady who walked to the front without a good evening .

It is really sad this matter had to end this way. But it say a whole lot about what politics has come to in Barbados. If people who want to be leaders in this country is behaving in this matter what example are we setting for our young people? I’ve nothing more to say on this matter.

  21. David November 22, 2015 at 11:47 pm

This is a different David from the one who has eaier posting. The DLP has been given a third term with this nonsensical decision.Christ Church West is the golden eye seat of the BLP similar to St John for the DLP. A stupid decision lacking in political commensense

  22. dave November 22, 2015 at 11:56 pm

Bajanguyster ! All who send you for me , tell them that you aint see me ,See who is theass now -yuh female rabbitt !! SHE EXPELLED !! Wunna so always coming on these fora and calling people names and not dealing with what the persons say. That type of behaviour is an indicator of the type of persons we have in our midst at this juncture in time: small minded people who can only see the person and seek to attack persons over folly . That is why I keep away from these forums because JAs like you seek to belittle people by calling them names and not dealing with the substance of the argument. Shame on you little fellow- little -in more ways than one ! Stupse !!

It is amazing how little Barbadians really know about politics. I have a few questions? Since Dr. Agard’s attorneys advised her to walk out of the meeting and it is clear they are going to take the matter to court what is the road back for Dr. Agard? Which Branch is going to nominate someone who takes their organisation to Court? Perhaps this is the objective. Dr. Agard had three choices this afternoon. Apologise, resign or walk out. I fail to see the wisdom in the advice. The more I see of this issue, the more it seems that she has been used for someone else’s ambitions. I wonder if those pushing her in this direction will remember her in four or five months from now?

I am in support of the action taken by Dr.Agard and her legal team. She has the best guidance. We have to take a stand for what is right

  25. BaJan boy November 23, 2015 at 2:19 am

Give her to Freundel let she and the new head of the economic counci elect or select help him run DEM. Let she and Verla fight for the nomination in West and the Econic guru await his knight hood…

  26. BaJan boy November 23, 2015 at 2:24 am

If some one could be so illiterate as to think that because the party had to discipline a disrespectful member that bajans will forget all the suffering, corruption, disrespect and the indiscipline of the DLP under the sleeping giant you got something else coming..

Well if this woman cannot compromise for the good of the island and the party, she should be removed, (With extreme prejudice), I thought these people (elected officials) were elected to serve the people and not themselves.
We recognize that sometimes you may feel strong about a particular situation but you may sometimes look at the end result and not the means.
Country before self, if you are really working for the people.

So I can take it that the people of Barbados had grounds for dismissal of the Barbados Labour Party when they walked out of the House of Assembly?

  31. miche November 23, 2015 at 2:17 pm

With Agard now out of the way,,,Dalke and his team can now strengthen, his take over team by inserting Jerome as the candidate in her place… Good move Dale,, But be warned,,,Mia packs a mean straight jab,,,,,,if yuh doubt muh ,,ask Owen

  34. miche November 23, 2015 at 2:31 pm

She still came bedecked in Red,,even though it was trimmed in BLACK as if in mourning for the party… A little early but it still can be worn again in a few years

Stupid lil gurl throwing an tantrum -not good as a representative of the people.

  36. BOBO THE SAME CLOWN November 24, 2015 at 9:22 am

How are the BLP going to overcome this current threat of ” Chronic Fatigue Syndrome”
As only BoBo would suggest ,help in relieving such systoms seem to be very difficult task for anyone in the party to undertake. As an astute observer from a distance an early diagnosis would have been the only opportunity to resolve the current situation which I can, if I may ,add that this is only the beginning as the light at the end of this tunnel would seem to be very, very far in the distance ,if indeed this tunnel has an end.
