Barbados Pride completed an easy ten-wicket victory over the Jamaica Scorpions on the fourth and final day of their first round WICB Professional Cricket League first-class match at Kensington Oval today.
Miguel Cummins contribution with the ball was vital in both of the Scorpions innings
Chasing a target of a mere four runs after dismissing the Scorpions for 187 in their second innings, Barbados Pride reached their target just before lunch with captain Kraigg Brathwaite finishing on three and Kyle Corbin, one.
The match had basically been decided on the third day when the Jamaica Scorpions suffered batting collapses in both their innings.
Following on with a deficit of 184 and resuming on 161 for eight today, fast bowler Kemar Roach snared the final two Jamaica Scorpions wickets after about half-hour’s play. Play started at 11:30 a.m. due to early morning rain.
Jason Dawes, who started the day on eight, was leg before wicket for nine to make the score 162 for 9 in the 59th over and Marquino Mindley was caught at gully by Roston Chase for 13 in the 65th over. Damion Jacobs was left not out on 32.
Fast bowler Miguel Cummins finished with figures of 3 for 33, off-spinner Ashley Nurse had 3 for 66, and Roach ended with 2 for 17.
Brathwaite was named Player-of-the-Match for his 119 in Barbados’ first innings of 373. (WG)
